Family Partnership Workers
A unique adaptation of the Nurse-Family Partnership program for Australia has been the inclusion of an indigenous role - the Family Partnership Worker. In Central Australia, these workers are called Aboriginal Community Workers. The role has been incorporated as complimentary to the Home Visiting Team and contribute to the Australian adaptation of the program.
The Family Partnership Workers and Aboriginal Community Workers promote trust and respect between the clients and their family, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, the wider community and health providers. They help bridge cultural differences, develop community awareness and acceptance of ANFPP and identify particular needs or sensitive issues that may hinder the uptake, service, or delivery of the program to prospective clients.
