Proven Results

The ANFPP is based on the Nurse-Family Partnership home visiting program developed by Professor David Olds in the United States. Informed by rigorous research, the program has developed over more than three decades. When working as a new graduate at a day-care centre in 1970 David Olds became concerned about the impact that impoverished and chaotic home environments could have on child development. He became increasingly convinced that helping parents during pregnancy and in the first few years of a child’s life was the best opportunity to prevent harm and to change intergenerational patterns of behaviour (Goodman 2006).
