Earlier this year the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet released the Closing the Gap Prime Minister’s Report 2016 which outlines the progress made toward the seven closing the gap targets. The target to halve the gap in mortality rates for Indigenous children under five within a decade (by 2018) is on track. The Australian-Nurse Family Partnership Program was highlighted as contributing to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander maternal and child health programmes.
